Paula and I (owners) bought the Southern Drifter in 2023. We picked her up in the winter and my son, Alex and I brought her up the ICW to her new home in Carolina Beach. We have used her most weekends, all seasons, to travel up to Wrightsville beach, Downtown Wilmington and many trips to Southport. We like to spend the weekends with her at the marina and traveling to fun destinations. Southern Drifter gives us ample room to stretch out and enjoy the water and the comfort to hunker down and watch the onboard tv if we don't feel like going out. We love the comfort of the interior because she offers a refrigerator, stove and sink to allow us to cook and relax for the evenings. Southern Drifter is a great boat for us as it offers many of the comforts of a larger boat but nimble enough to toss off the lines and take a run. We are minutes from the dock to the open water. Southern Drifter has always been an easy way to get off the dock. With the two engines and outdrive steering it is so easy to maneuver in tight docking spots and out on the water.
Our second year we suffered an engine loss as a result of taking water into the port engine. because one of the risers failed. Fortunately the loss was covered by insurance so the port engine was replaced. That engine has only 106 hours on it. The starboard engine was rebuilt and has about 450 hours.
