REDUCED BY $5000 – APRIL 2013 ***This might be the best layout I have ever seen in a 30 foot boat! She is full of innovation that put her ahead of her time!
The designer behind this boat was Neil Gilbert. Although not a household name in sailboat design, Gilbert is well known in the industry. As a friend of C&C’s George Cuthbertson, Neil Gilbert got his start with C&C and earned his design papers. Gilbert has worked on Canada’s Cup racers, was the project manager for the legendary C&C 27 MK V, and had a major hand in building up Doral yachts and Campion Yachts.
The Gilbert 30 was a show stopper and won editor’s choice awards and innovation awards at the Toronto Boat Show upon its introduction. The boat was considered “fairly radical” for its innovative interior, very functional lowering swim platform, lines buried beneath the deck, and handsome lines. She is built of high quality and was inspected by Gilbert every step of the way. Only 11 of these vessels made it to production and new, it was one of the most expensive vessels in its class.
The Gilbert 30 is a cruiser through and through. 3 of the boats best features for cruising are 1. The self tacking Jib 2. The carbon fibre reinforced steps at the stern. Combine this with a new sail in 2010, a diesel engine, wheel steering, and one of the best below decks layout ever, this 30 footer has all the features any cruiser will need. This vessel will need some work to bring her up to perfect condition but will make a great place to start if you are looking for a well priced innovative cruiser.

Over the years we have replaced the refrigeration unit, the alternator, the pressure water and the freshwater foot pump as required. It has been a wonderful long term cruising sailboat and we’ve never been interested in getting anything larger.
